Out – email today to PNZ Secretary asking dates of their tournaments
Email to PNZ was because we have been unable to plan the dates for our tournaments because we don’t know the dates PNZ have chosen for theirs. Claire W said some dates have just been posted on the PNZ website.
Brian presented his financial report as of 3 April 2026. The deficit is currently $994 but is likely to be close to $1100 when all invoices are in. Kevin moved all invoices for payment be submitted for payment ASAP. Pat Seconded.
Generally everything is progressing OK. Numbers are down slightly in the singles, doubles holding. Some pulled out of the Champ of Champs at Silverstream because of Covid.
Clive Williams has withdrawn from his role as umpiring co-ordinator, because of his wife’s health. Dave G and Paul B from Upper Hutt and Lin J from Naenae are training and may be available. Generally, umpires would prefer to be playing rather than umpiring. The most important job for umpires is measuring. Claire W reported at a recent tournament only 2 non measuring questions were asked. The umpiring situation will be discussed by the Tournament Sub-Committee.
Two members going to Club Champs in Tauranga
Date of Sinclair Memorial Triples to be changed, probably 1 week later. 4th round of Casey Cup. New life member (Roger Ball). More members going to tournaments.
Quiet period for the club. Less members. Two members who were going to attend the Club Champs in Tauranga not now going. Janet H back as Treasurer.
New Year Melee was held but struggled to get numbers. Hosted the WPA Open Triples in December. Second round of the Casey Cup was held at Otaki with the WPA Women’s singles to be held at the end of March. Have picked up a couple of new members.
One team going to Club Champs. Quiz night 14 April. AGM 23 May. Bev Mackay going into care. Otherwise ticking along fine.
No one going to Club Champs, mainly because of costs. Owen Davie, past secretary, passed away. Champ of Champ triples went well, 7 teams entered. Teresa and Seymour won Upper Hutt Swiss Doubles. Club numbers down slightly. Got a JC Challenge coming up – Brian will look at dates
Forty seven current members, slightly down on last year. Beat Otaki in first round of JC tournament. Twenty one teams attended Swiss Doubles on 22 March
Open melee on 14 May, also Bastille Day melee on 14 July
Fourteen-fifteen attending good weather Club days. No one attending Club Champs. Jackie Stonehouse passed away on Monday. Bruce will be standing down as President at the next AGM
Graeme was approached by a member of the NZ Rifle Association to enquire if we wish to use their facility at Trentham shortly becoming available for training purposes. We don’t see it as a viable proposition. Graeme will get back to his contact.
Simon noted the next meeting will be the AGM. Are there any changes or tweaking that should be made to the constitution at the AGM? Notices of Motion should be submitted beforehand, in accordance with the constitution.
The three committee members (Treasurer, President and Secretary) will be elected at the AGM.
The tournament sub-committee, website co-ordinator, regional coach and umpire will be appointed. The present committee indicated their willingness to be re-elected
AGM 11:00am 13 June at Horowhenua
