Brian presented his financial report as of 12 February 2026. The deficit was $298.14 for the review period. Budgeting for a $1,100 to $1,200 debt for the 2025-26 year. Brian to prepare a draft budget for 2026-27 in April. Will seek input etc from Kevin McFadgen, Claire Wilson and any other interested person. Budget to be tabled at the 2026 AGM.

Brian was concerned that the Tournament Sub-Committee lacked any protocols and suggested that it needs to be run on a more formal footing with. The Tournament Sub-Committee should report to WPA meetings as per the Treasurers, Umpires and Club reports. Graeme said that the Tournament Sub-Committee has been running well for the last 10 years and the issue around the WPA Interclub was blip. Brian has offered his services on the Tournament Sub-Committee.
There is a shortage of umpires available to attend WPA tournaments and this needs to be addressed if the WPA wants umpires at most of their tournaments. A number of qualified umpires also want to play in the tournaments and this reduces those available. These issues need to be addressed by WPA through the Clubs

One Wanganui East player selected for the NZ Trans Tasman team. Club is going well. Club triples to be held this weekend with nine teams entered
Club going well. Club triples to be played in two weeks time. New members are going well and they are playing in the Casey Cup.
Busy period for the club. Successfully hosted several tournaments, including the PNZ National Women’s triples. Hospice Melee was a great success. Club triples were held last month. Five new members have joined the club. Hosted members from Stanley Bay Petanque Club from Auckland.
New Year Melee was held but struggled to get numbers. Hosted the WPA Open Triples in December. Second round of the Casey Cup was held at Otaki with the WPA Women’s singles to be held at the end of March. Have picked up a couple of new members.
Busy time for the club holding the Kapiti Open, WPA Interclub, WPA Triples and the PNZ National triples. Twelve new members joined in the last six months. Club triples held last month.
Now have 20 members with a lot now playing in tournaments. Silverstream won the Champion of Champions doubles. Two teams entered the WPA women’s triples and one in the PNZ tournament.
Collecting subs for 2026, membership has increased from 40 to 45, though expect to lose a couple of members. AGM was held on 26 February. Jacques Cochonnet challenge against Masterton held on 28 February. Swiss doubles to be held in March and Autumn Leaves to be held in April.
Fantastic effort by Horowhenua that raised $4,347 for the local hospice. In seven years approximately $20,000 has been raised. Kapiti is hosting the tournament in 2027. Masterton triples tournament was reduced from two days to one day. Eight teams to participate.

PNZ still have yet to confirm dates of their tournaments for the next season. The venue of the 2026-27 tournaments is shown on the website but not the dates. Claire B will contact PNZ’s secretary to see when the dates will be available.
