Treasurer’s Report:

Brian advised that we are losing money. He has paid all outstanding bills that he has received and has not included interest due for at the end of April, which will be minor. Claire (B) has a small bill to pass on for engraving, and thinks there may be one other. It was agreed last meeting that the AGM be asked to approve an increase of affiliation fees to $5 per member. Brian said the AGM should be warned that further increases would be necessary next year and in following years.

Graeme asked what about increasing entry fees for tournaments? Kevin said no; - the numbers entering tournaments was slowly increasing and we should not discourage entries. These days we are paying more for running of tournaments and coaching, which is increasing costs.

Claire (B) said it is up to clubs to ask her or Graeme is they would like coaching sessions – she and Graeme are happy to travel to the clubs. Kevin moved that the financial report be accepted, Claire (B) seconded. Passed

WPA tournaments / Events:

Graeme said the WPA women’s doubles and triples events were well run and well behaved – no verbal attacks or disputes.

Claire (B) will look at the calendar for the coming year’s tournaments. Kevin will set up a Zoom meeting with her and Graeme after draft dates have been decided upon.

Graeme undertook to update the seeding list. Graeme is having trouble finding suitable days for coaching. He is thinking of making the first two days open to all, and the remainder mainly for players who may represent the WPA.

Upcoming WPA challenge events: Chanticleer Cup 23/24 August, Tri Star provisionally last weekend of November, as in the past.

Umpiring:

Clive was not present as he had another appointment. Kevin read Clive’s draft report. Clive will continue as umpire co-ordinator (subject to approval at AGM?) but will have limited time for umpiring for the first part of the season because of personal reasons. Kevin said Clive has done a good job. Claire (B) moved that the umpire’s report be accepted, Bruce seconded. Passed.

Website:

The website is progressing well. Claire (B) said the website looks dated and asked the clubs to consult their members to see if anyone can streamline the website.

Club Reports:

Wanganui East

Recently successfully held Champ of Champion Triples. Open Day coming up to attract new members

Manawatu

Otaki

Memorial Melee well supported. Twenty players attended today, in not good weather. Peter Blake passed away, after playing into his nineties. Have applied for regional grants for shelters and shade cloth. Quiz night end of April, 30 entries

Silverstream

Twenty two members, 2/3 are competition players. Twelve attended the PNZ Clubs Tournament.
