Where to play Pétanque in the Wellington Region
There are a large number of places where one can play pétanque in Wellington. In fact, any bare, reasonably flat, piece of ground, away from the traffic can be used.
However, there are some locations that are better than others. Public terrains include:
- Aotea Lagoon, Papakowhai Road
- Avalon Park, Taita Drive, Avalon
- Charles Plimmer Park, Lawson Place, Mt Victoria
- Maidstone Park, Park Street, Upper Hutt (Also the home of the Upper Hutt club)
- Old Circa Theatre site, cnr Jervois Quay and Harris Street, Wellington
- Petone Foreshore, The Esplanade, Petone
- Waitangi Park, Oriental Parade, Wellington
- Westchester Drive, Churton Park, Wellington
- Williams Park, Kereru Road, Days Bay
There are also several terrains attached to cafés, restuarants and vineyards.
- Red House Cafe, 885 State Highway 1, Te Horo
- Rushes Bistro and Bar, cnr Grays and Paekakariki Hill Roads, Pauatahanui Village
- The Short Straw Cafe, 50 Johnsons Road, Whitemans Valley
- The Winemaker's Daughter, 1081 State Highway 1, Te Horo, Otaki
