16 October 2016

With an entry of 24 teams there were 16 qualifying spots up for grabs on Saturday. After 5 rounds of qualifying games, Myles Cowper and Michael Rocks were the only undefeated team.

As is the usual case, the top teams from Saturday didn’t have it their own way on Sunday, with four of the top eight teams relegated to the Plate.

In the Championship final, Dave Gatchell and Pete Hamilton faced the 2012 champions Grant Bray and Dirk Winnie.

Grant an Dirk took an early lead only to see Dave and Pete fight back and then take the lead themselves. Grant and Dirk then picked up a 4 to tie the scores at 11-11.

A tense final end saw Pete shoot the cochonnet to claim the last 2 points.

The Plate final was won by Andrew Joe and Brian Smith. They beat Yvonne Futcher and Annick Le Guen 13-7.

WPA Inter-club Finals Draw

27 October 2016

Hi everyone, due to the unfortunate withdrawal of Masterton and Hataitai from this Saturday’s finals it has been necessary to alter the draw.

Upper Hutt has been elevated to second place (East) in Division 1 and replaces Silverstream who have been elevated to first place (east) to replace Masterton.

This leaves Wanganui East and Manawatu to play the second division final. The second division final will be played at Manawatu on Saturday at a time agreed by both clubs.

All other matches will be played at Kapiti starting at 9:30am as previously advised.

The new draw is as follows:

Division One Semi-finals: 9.30am at Kapiti.

Match One: Silverstream vs Horowhenua
Match Two: Upper Hutt vs Kapiti

Afternoon matches:

Division One final: winner of match one vs winner match two
Division One 3rd and 4th playoff: loser match one vs loser match two
Division Two final: Wanganui East vs Manawatu to be played at Manawatu at a mutually agreed time on Saturday 29th October.
