Greetings
Having fired an early shot by cancelling the National Club Championships, a number of Clubs have now come back to me wanting to join the fray.
Now we have the numbers to be viable it is all back on, same place, Rotorua, same weekend 16/17 May 2009.
I will make up an Entry form and we will distribute it and place it on the Web shortly.
Thank you for your responses and returned enthusiasm.
However it has shown that there is not enough interest in a Seniors Division so it will be Open teams only but the team of Seniors who is placed the highest in the Tournament will be crowned top Senior Team.
All the details about the Tournament are on the PNZ website (2009 tournament documents not archived).

To all PNZ Clubs
Previous advice indicated that the Annual General Meeting of Pétanque New Zealand would be held on 18th April 2009.
However, it has been brought to our attention that under the new structure, in which voting is done by Club representatives, this would mean that Clubs would have to find and probably fund someone willing and able to attend a stand alone AGM in order to get a quorum for the meeting, and cast votes on any matters other than the election of Board members (which can be done electronically or by post).
So we now propose to hold the AGM on Saturday 4th April at Park Avenue Pétanque Club, in conjunction with the National Triples. This will allow a large number of Clubs to be able to appoint a representative to cast the club's vote at the AGM, at no cost in terms of travel and accommodation, only an hour or so's time for the person concerned. It also creates a much larger pool of representatives for Clubs who do not have members competing at the Championships to give their proxy vote to.
While this does not comply with the one month's notice required under the Constitution, this requirement can be waived if all clubs agree, or if all those attending do so without protest about it. (Clause 12.4.4)
PNZ believes that this is a much sounder and fairer arrangement for representation.
Please let me know if you have any objection to the new date.
A Notice of AGM is attached. (Not archived)
Part of the business of the AGM is the election of Board members.
I have pleasure in advising that the following nominations have been received:
President - Bryan Wells, Lorraine Brock
Vice President - Paul O'Connor
Director Player Development - Graeme Morris
Director Sport Development - Dirk Winnie
Director Membership Services - Fay Doyle, Diane Findlay.
As there is only one nomination for Vice-President, Director Sport Development and Director Player Development, a vote is not required for these positions.
A vote for President and Director Membership Services will be held in accordance with the process set out in the PNZ Constitution, Clause 12.6 (available at www.petanquenz.com).
I attach a Ballot Paper, and information on each of the candidates, (including, for information only, those who will be elected unopposed) so that this may be distributed to your Club members. (Note these attachments can no longer be found on the PNZ website).
Votes may be made via email, by post, or in person at the AGM by your nominated Club representative.
Note that electronic votes must be sent from the email address of the Secretary of the Affiliated Club, and copied to one other authorised Club person as previously notified to the PNZ Secretary. Postal votes must be signed by two authorised signatories of the Affiliated Club.
Please let me know your authorised persons for this purpose, and whether a Club rep will be attending the AGM.
Also attached are the PNZ Financial Statements for the year ended 31/12/2008. Note that these are unaudited at present. The audited accounts are expected to be available on or shortly after 20th March. (Note: Not located on this website, see your Club Secretary for a copy.)

PS Don't forget that in order to be able to vote at the AGM your affiliation fees must be paid (due 31st March).
