WPA Regional Singles

28 September 2008

Twenty-five players took part in the Regional Singles and when the dust had settled, the 2007 finalists met again to decide the title. In the yellow corner, defending champion Dirk Winnie was undefeated in his march to the final, whereas top seed Michael Rocks, in the blue corner, had tripped up four times in his stagger to the final game.

However, the beauty of a final is that it allows the underdog to (occassionally) have its day, and so at the fourth attempt, Michael Rocks defeated Dirk Winnie for the first time in a competitive match.

In the Plate final, Monica Smiler beat Tony Chin. In the Bowl final, Richard Lawson beat Enoka Smiler, and in the Bowl Consolation final, Rex Hayes beat Pete Hamilton.
