Masterton had a close encounter in their second defence against Wanganui East (played in Masterton). Down 1-2 after the first round, they fought back to level the scores in round 2 and finally win the match 5-4. Masterton's next defence is away to Silverstream.

Joan Judd and Margaret Mordecai (Otaki) won the Women's Doubles after defeating Joan Miller and Claire Wilson (Masterton) 13-12 in the final. Full results.

Helene Hay, Alison Priddle (Masterton) and Christine Strichen (Wanganui East) defeated Margret Fleck (Hataitai), Yvonne Futcher and Sue Gurr (Wanganui East) 13-9 in the final.

Otaki are the 2008 Inter-club Champions after they defeated Windy Hills in the Division 1 final played at Kapiti. Division 2 was won by Kapiti and Division 3 by Horowhenua.

FIPJP Women's World Championships - Important Message

An announcement on the FIPJP website

Due to recent events in China, the Chinese Federation can not ensure the Women's World Championships this year.
The F.I.P.J.P. [is] working to find an organizer who can handle the organization of [the] Women's Championships 2008.

National Representation - Seniors

PNZ have issued an application form for Senior players (60 years of age as of 31st January 2009) who wish to be considered for selection for the 2009 Trans Tasman Challenge in Australia. The application form (not archived) can be found on the PNZ website. The closing date for application is 1 December 2008.

Note: The process for the Open Team has yet to be announced.
